As you can tell by the title, a lot has happened in the past month. The move has gone well. Our house finally closed on Friday the 11th, September 2009. I've made friends at church and a few at school.
We put an offer on our house quite a while ago. Since it was a short sale, the offer seemed to have just been sitting in someone's office until about a week ago when they settled the closing date. Wednesday, the paper's were signed and on Friday afternoon, the call came declaring us homeowners. Just because we own the house doesn't mean much until it becomes livable. The walls are painted mustard and ketchup colors and the carpet is stained with who knows what. The roof is covered with pigeon scrud and the yard is weeds and dead grass. The house was dirty inside and we need to add a wall for my dad's office. That's a lot of work. So... as my mom, aunt, a grandma scrub the floors and clean the house, my dad starts with the wall while I screw around outside. To go into more detail on what I did outide, let's just say I found a fountain, cinder blocks, pulled up dead grass, various rocks, and a plant that I transplanted. It's looks really nice altogether.
My exciting summer finally came to a close at the very end of August. The first day was pretty rough since I didn't know anyone and no one to sit by, but slowly I made a few friends, so school isn't something I dread every morning. The school is pretty sweet, if only I had the friends and other people I had back in Illinois over here. But, before school started, as I said, was a rough summer. Besides the move, my Grandpa Gibson died from cancer at age 69 and my great-grandma died at 94 of old age. I've done a lot of traveling and mainly just getting used to things.
Well, that's how things have been so far. Hello to all the folks in Illinois! And I guess Hello to the people here in Nevada(Neh-va-duh not Nuh-vah-duh).
